UK to send Patriot missiles to Ukraine before winter

Britain will supply Ukraine with Patriot missiles before winter under the PURL mechanism, allocating £100 million (€116 million) for an air defense package. The aid aims to protect critical infrastructure and civilians from Russian attacks. The package includes interceptors for air defense, large-caliber artillery shells, and drones. Equipment will be purchased through PURL, a scheme where allies buy American weapons for Ukraine’s needs. The announcement followed a visit by Britain’s prime minister and defense minister to Kyiv. Defense Secretary Wes Streeting said the support is vital as Russia prepares to use winter as a weapon against civilian and energy targets. He pledged to mobilize allies and provide more assistance where possible.
