US envoys present Ukraine with new proposals to end war with Russia

rte.ie

US envoys have presented Ukraine with new, "more effective" proposals to end the war with Russia, a senior Ukrainian presidential official said, though no breakthroughs were announced. The envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, visited Kyiv after meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the war likely will continue into winter, while the officials described talks as substantive and encouraged. Russia occupies large parts of eastern and southern Ukraine and demands recognition of its territorial claims, terms Ukraine rejects. The envoys said both sides must compromise, and a White House official said substantive plans will be announced in coming weeks.
