Kremlin open to resuming trilateral talks with US and Ukraine on war

The Kremlin has announced it does not rule out resuming trilateral talks with the United States and Ukraine regarding the war in Ukraine. This follows weekend visits to Moscow and Kiev by US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Kremlin spokesman Dmitrij Peskov stated it is too early to specify a location or exact dates for any renewed three-party cooperation. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described his talks with the US envoys as positive, while Witkoff emphasized that both Ukraine and Russia must be prepared for compromises. A French presidential official reported that the US envoys perceived a new willingness in the Kremlin to negotiate after Russia's parliamentary elections, scheduled for September 18-20. The envoys also met separately with representatives from France, Britain, and Germany following the weekend's negotiation round.
