Kyiv counts casualties after Russian missile strikes kill two

Russia attacked Kyiv with missiles overnight into Tuesday, September 8, killing two people and causing destruction across five districts of the capital. Rescue services continue to eliminate the aftermath of the strike. The death toll from the overnight attack rose to 10 injured people, with five hospitalized, two in serious condition. Fires broke out in residential buildings, warehouses, and garages across the Holosiivsky, Dnipro, Podil, Solomiansky, and Shevchenko districts, with debris falling on multiple locations including a private school and a 26-story unfinished building. A 29-year-old foreigner was among the wounded. In the Solomiansky district, two people died and eight others aged 22 to 65 were injured. Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko confirmed the casualties, while emergency services reported ongoing firefighting operations in non-residential buildings.
