Ukraine's air defense intercepts 175 targets in Russian missile and drone attack

On the night of September 8, Russia launched a massive missile and drone attack on Ukraine, primarily targeting the Odessa and Kyiv regions, with air defenses intercepting 175 of the incoming targets. The attack involved Oniks anti-ship missiles, Iskander-M, S-400, and KN-23 ballistic missiles, 32 Kh-101 cruise missiles, and 166 Shahed drones. Ukrainian forces shot down two ballistic missiles, 31 cruise missiles, and 142 drones, though strikes were recorded at 29 locations. The attack on Kyiv killed two people and injured at least ten others, with damage reported across seven districts of the capital. The assault was still ongoing at the time of reporting, with about ten enemy drones remaining in Ukrainian airspace.
