US Envoys Visit Kyiv as Zelensky Faces Political Crisis
US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Kyiv amid escalating political problems for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, German newspaper Berliner Zeitung reported. The publication said Zelensky faces a political crisis worsened by corruption scandals, including a $100 million bribery case involving Energoatom that has spread through his inner circle. Tensions in Kyiv have risen alongside arrests and searches at Ukraine's Prosecutor General's office during the US visit. The official talks between Zelensky and the US envoys concluded on September 6, with American representatives expressing readiness for continued diplomatic contact. Before Ukraine, Witkoff and Kushner met with Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
