Ukraine's air defense downs 33 Russian missiles in massive overnight attack

Ukraine's air defense forces shot down or suppressed 175 targets during a massive Russian attack overnight, including 33 missiles of various types, according to the Ukrainian Air Force Command. The strikes targeted Kyiv and Odesa regions, killing two people in Kyiv and wounding ten others. The attack involved a complex mix of weaponry, including Oniks anti-ship missiles, Iskander-M, S-400, and KN-23 ballistic missiles, 32 Kh-101 cruise missiles, and 166 strike drones. Air defense intercepted two ballistic missiles, 31 cruise missiles, and 142 drones, while impacts were recorded at 29 locations. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called it a difficult attack, noting that while cruise missile interception was successful, ballistic missiles remain challenging. He said he has communicated Ukraine's need for interceptors to American and European partners, with meetings scheduled today regarding supplies and the Freya anti-ballistic system.
