UK pledges £100m to strengthen Ukraine's air defences for winter

The UK has committed £100 million to bolster Ukraine's air defences over winter, supplying Patriot missiles and other military equipment through NATO's prioritised requirements list. The package includes defence interceptors, large-calibre artillery rounds, and drones. Patriot missiles are crucial for stopping aircraft, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles, but supplies have dwindled, leading to fewer interceptions of Russian attacks. UK Defence Secretary Wes Streeting will co-chair a Ukraine defence contact group meeting with Germany on Tuesday. The UK recently agreed to declassify blueprints for British-made components of the Scalp missile.
