US backs multi-part winter aid package for Ukraine, Zelenskyy says
The United States supports a multi-part "winter package" for Ukraine that includes air defense, energy assistance, and other measures, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Zelenskyy stated the package covers not only missiles but also liquefied natural gas and de-escalation measures. He previously requested 300 interceptor missiles for Patriot systems from President Donald Trump, warning that depleted stocks leave Ukraine unable to defend against ballistic attacks. Without the aid before winter, Zelenskyy warned Russian strikes could destroy Ukrainian power plants, leaving millions without electricity and heating and creating a humanitarian crisis. A recent Washington Post article suggested producing Patriot missiles directly in Ukraine.
