Russia's Three-Day Moratorium on Kyiv Strikes Expires

The three-day moratorium on strikes against Kyiv, imposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin ahead of US negotiators' visits, has expired. The restriction was introduced amid the resumption of peace talks. US Special Representative Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner visited Moscow on September 5 and Kyiv on September 6. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the order to halt strikes on Kyiv ran from midnight September 5 for three days. Ukraine also significantly reduced attacks on Russian territory. During the truce, Russia struck military targets elsewhere, including metallurgical plants in the Dnipropetrovsk region and logistics centers in Mykolaiv and Odesa oblasts. Putin stated the moratorium request came through official channels.
