Ukrainian journalist confronts Trump envoys over Putin talks in Kyiv
During a Kyiv news conference on Sunday, Ukrainian journalist Dmytro Gordon confronted US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, asking if they found it "disgusting" to sit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, whom he called a "war criminal" and "executioner of the Ukrainian people." The envoys had met Putin in Moscow for three hours on Saturday before holding talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday. Zelensky praised the "very substantive" conversation and expressed readiness for trilateral talks involving Russia, the US, and Ukraine, while urging all sides to "keep diplomacy going." Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow does not rule out resuming the trilateral format but called it too early to specify details. He added that Putin holds Trump's peace efforts in high regard, though Moscow had not been informed about the Kyiv meetings.
