Russia resumes Kyiv drone attacks and readies strategic bombers

Russia on the evening of September 7 resumed a mass attack on Kyiv using jet-powered drones, while simultaneously activating its strategic aviation in preparation for a potential new large-scale strike on Ukrainian territory. The Ukrainian Air Force announced the attack on the capital at 17:59 via Telegram. The Air Force warned residents to stay in shelters during the ongoing drone assault, and at 18:12 reported a new group of jet drones moving past the Kyiv Reservoir toward the city. According to the Strategic Overhead Telegram channel, Russia has completed preparations for another mass missile strike using strategic aviation, possibly occurring on the night of September 8 or 9, though no immediate launch threat has been confirmed. On September 5, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Vladimir Putin had ordered a three-day pause in strikes on Kyiv from September 5-8, linked to an upcoming visit by US special representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The pause did not extend to the Kyiv region or other Ukrainian cities, and President Volodymyr Zelensky had said Ukraine was ready to refrain from strikes on Moscow until September 8.
