Countries with Patriot systems are negotiating their transfer to Ukraine. France and Italy plan to provide SAMP/T systems with Aster missiles. Countries possessing Patriot air defense systems are considering several ways to quickly transfer them to Ukraine ahead of winter. Simultaneously, France, together with Italy, is working on transferring SAMP/T systems and Aster missiles to Ukraine, according to Ukrinform citing sources in the Elysee Palace. When asked whether Ukraine would receive additional Patriots soon, the Elysee Palace stated that active discussions are ongoing, with countries producing or purchasing Patriot systems considering several options. Sources report that President Zelensky is most actively pushing for strengthening Ukrainian air defense, as Russia changes its tactics and weapon types for strikes on Ukraine. However, sources emphasize that Patriots alone will not be enough for Kyiv, requiring a broader set of air defense assets. Therefore, Paris, together with Italy, is preparing to transfer SAMP/T systems with Aster missiles, though exact dates are not yet announced. This follows Ukraine presenting a list of priority and urgent air and missile defense needs at an emergency Ukraine-NATO Council meeting on September 7.
