51 UN States Urge Russia to Accept Full Ceasefire

Fifty-one UN member states issued a joint statement calling on Russia to agree to a full and unconditional ceasefire, a step Ukraine accepted in March 2025. The appeal urges Moscow to join negotiations for a comprehensive and lasting peace. The statement, published by Ukraine's Foreign Ministry, confirms Kyiv's readiness for an immediate and unconditional truce. It also demands Russia ensure the safe return of all unlawfully detained, forcibly displaced, or deported Ukrainian civilians, including children, and emphasizes that a ceasefire should lead to peace talks. The UN has repeatedly called for a complete ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. Separately, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted Russia's interest in discussing a truce limiting strikes on energy infrastructure, while President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed readiness for such an agreement if Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy cease.
