The European Commission confirmed Russia retains its G20 membership and the right to attend meetings, including the leaders' summit in Miami on December 14-15, responding to an invitation extended to President Vladimir Putin. Commission deputy spokesperson Olof Gill stated the EU will continue using G20 sessions to condemn Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and call for its end, regardless of which participants attend. The EU emphasized that the G20 is a key forum for addressing global challenges, some created by Russia's war, and noted Moscow is currently escalating attacks on Ukrainian civilians.
