Kyiv expects intensified contacts with Beijing — Yeliseyev

Ukrainian Ambassador Konstantin Yeliseyev said on Radio NV that he expects intensified contacts between Beijing and Kyiv, emphasizing the importance of involving China in diplomatic efforts to end the war in Ukraine. Yeliseyev noted Ukraine has asked the US side to bring China into the negotiation track, but questioned what Kyiv itself is doing to engage Beijing. He expressed hope that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha will meet Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during the UN General Assembly. Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged Donald Trump to press Chinese leader Xi Jinping to approach Vladimir Putin about ending the war. China has reportedly refused meetings between Xi and Zelensky, according to expert Vita Holod.
