Rubio says ending Ukraine conflict is logical outcome for Russia

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio called ending the conflict in Ukraine a logical outcome for Russia, while acknowledging that rational decisions do not always prevail in foreign policy. In an interview with radio station 77 WABC, Rubio stated that it is entirely logical to stop the conflict, but noted that what makes sense does not always happen. He also said the conflict must ultimately end through negotiations, with the U.S. continuing to seek ways to facilitate a settlement, and confirmed no agreement currently exists between the parties. The remarks came ahead of Rubio's expected meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, where talks are set to address the situation around the Ukraine conflict.
