Kyiv hit by explosions before air raid alert as Russia targets capital with ballistic missiles

About ten explosions rocked Kyiv in the early morning hours before an air raid alert was even declared, according to AFP journalists. The Ukrainian Air Force subsequently warned of Russian ballistic missiles targeting the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. The new attack follows a wave of Russian strikes that killed at least seven people across Ukraine and caused fires and damage in Kyiv. Russia has intensified its assaults on the capital, using both missiles and drones, while Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory have also increased. On Wednesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated at the UN Security Council that Moscow has no intention of pausing its military operations in Ukraine.
