Russian strikes kill eight in Ukraine, damage maternity clinic

Russian strikes on Kyiv and northeastern Ukraine killed eight people Thursday, including attacks that damaged a maternity hospital and a farm, according to officials. The overnight barrage involved hypersonic and ballistic missiles, 282 drones, and other weapons, with Moscow intensifying its air campaign. In Kyiv, two people died, including one in the hospital parking lot, and eight were injured, with the facility's facade damaged but no patients or medics harmed. A separate attack on a Kharkiv region farm killed six and injured 12. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in New York, said Ukraine secured a Patriot missile supply deal and reiterated the need for ballistic interceptors. The strikes also damaged infrastructure in Rivne and Odesa, while Moldova reported four Russian drones crossing its airspace and Romania said a drone crashed on its territory. NATO member Poland deployed aviation twice in response to the attacks.
