Iran at UN: President calls US 'terrorists' as Russia rejects Ukraine ceasefire

The visit follows US-Iranian talks mediated by Qatar. The war began in late February with US-Israeli strikes on Iran, prompting Iranian missile and drone attacks and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, leading to a US naval blockade. On Tuesday, US envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghtschi, with Trump calling the talks "productive." Iranian officials reportedly demanded an end to the war and blockade, plus release of frozen assets, while a lawmaker suggested a direct Trump-Peseschkian meeting is likely. The White House says ending the conflict is its top priority.
