Iran sends US demands via Qatar to revive diplomacy

Iran said Wednesday it conveyed conditions for reviving diplomacy with the US during a two-hour Qatar-mediated exchange on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the Tuesday exchange continued discussions between Tehran and Washington, with Iran communicating positions demanding an end to US "aggressive actions," including the naval blockade and "economic terrorism," plus release of frozen assets. Baghaei also said Iran demands acceptance of a safe shipping route via the Strait of Hormuz under an arrangement with Oman. US President Donald Trump described the talks as having gone "very well," following a Pakistan-mediated ceasefire in April and the June Islamabad Memorandum.
