US invites Putin to G20 summit in Miami
The United States has invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to the G20 summit in Miami this December, as confirmed by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who expressed hope Putin will accept the invitation. Rubio stated that solving problems requires meeting with those one disagrees with, following his talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in New York. The summit will be held at President Donald Trump's golf club in Florida. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has conditionally agreed to meet Putin at the summit, but Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called this "impossible" and reiterated an offer for Putin to host Zelensky in Moscow instead. Rubio also urged both nations to halt attacks on energy infrastructure.
