Putin's envoy meets Trump team in New York for talks

Russian President Vladimir Putin's envoy Kirill Dmitriev has flown to the United States for talks with President Donald Trump's negotiation team, including Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, according to Reuters, citing two sources familiar with the preparations. The meeting will take place in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. The visit, which was pre-approved by Putin, aims to continue dialogue between Russia and the US and advance peace efforts. The agenda includes economic cooperation, energy issues, and peaceful settlement in Ukraine. This follows a three-hour meeting between Putin and US representatives on September 5. Dmitriev, described by Reuters as the Russian negotiator most friendly to the US, previously secured agreements on lifting sanctions on Russian oil shipments and prisoner exchanges. He has also held talks with Germany's far-right AfD party regarding resuming Russian gas supplies to Germany.
