Zelensky and Trump agree on timeline to end war before winter

Zelensky expressed hope that Trump would help end the war as quickly as possible, ideally before winter arrives, with Trump concurring that finishing it by then is a significant matter. The statements came as Russia continues striking Ukrainian civilian energy infrastructure, while Ukrainian forces target Russian energy processing and export facilities. Discussions have intensified around a potential energy ceasefire, with Trump recently claiming Ukraine should stop destroying Russian diesel reserves and noting that Russian refineries have been temporarily knocked offline. Zelensky responded that Ukraine is ready for de-escalation if Russia halts attacks on its energy, critical infrastructure, and food exports. Trump also mentioned two possible agreement options for the war, one "very bad" and another that could benefit both countries.
