Russian strike on Poltava Oblast energy facility leaves 6,000 without power
A Russian drone strike on an energy facility in the Lubensky district of Poltava Oblast has left approximately 6,000 consumers without electricity, according to the head of the regional military administration, Vitaliy Dyakivnych, on Friday, October 2. No casualties have been reported from the attack. Separately, Ukraine's Energy Ministry stated that power outages also affected consumers in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhye, Mykolayiv, Kharkiv, and Chernigov oblasts due to hostilities, though no scheduled restrictions are currently forecast. The ministry warned the energy situation could change amid ongoing attacks. On September 24, Energy Minister Denis Shmyhal said Ukraine had obtained Russian documents detailing plans to strike energy infrastructure this winter, including specific targets, quantities, and weapons for major cities like Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Odesa.
