Ukrainian Drones Strike Oil Refinery in Volgograd and Europe's Largest Fuel Hub in Samara
Ukrainian defense forces struck legitimate targets in Russia overnight, with explosions and fires reported at an oil refinery in Volgograd and at Europe's largest oil hub in the Samara region. Drone attacks and air defense activity were captured on video. In Volgograd, explosions were heard in the city and near the Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka refinery, which processes 14-15 million tons of oil annually and supplies fuel to the Russian armed forces. In Samara, a fire broke out at the LDS Samara station, a Transneft facility with 71 reservoirs holding over 1.6 million cubic meters of oil. The Samara hub has been previously targeted by drones in September 2025 and April 2026 due to its critical role in oil logistics and support of Russia's military-industrial complex.
