Russian Strikes Hit Kyiv's Southern Bridge for Second Time, Mayor Says
Russian air strikes hit the Southern Bridge in Kyiv again on Friday, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Telegram, marking the second attack on the structure in two days. Traffic across the bridge and the Paton Bridge was closed in both directions, with authorities redirecting transport via alternative routes. The strikes follow Thursday's Russian drone attack that smashed into a school and the Southern Bridge over the Dnipro River, triggering fires in the capital. A fire also broke out in the top floors of an apartment building in Kyiv, Klitschko added, alongside damage elsewhere in the city. In Russia, Ukrainian drones targeted industrial facilities in Volgograd, home to a large oil refinery, sparking a fire and injuring one person after hitting an apartment building. President Vladimir Putin said Ukraine's strikes on Russian oil refineries have cost the country 1% of its gross domestic product.
