Ukrainian strikes on Samara oil hub may cost $200 million in damages

nv.ua (Ukrainian) —

Ukrainian strikes on the Samara oil pumping station may have caused up to $200 million in damages, including the value of destroyed crude oil, according to an OSINT analysis published on October 2. The attack hit the largest tank farm in Europe. The strikes ignited five RVS-20000 tanks and three RVS-50000 tanks, damaged pipelines and a pumping station, and caused a fire covering over 15,000 square meters. The eight destroyed tanks alone are estimated to be worth $100-125 million, with the fire still ongoing. The Samara facility, part of Transneft's system, holds 71 tanks with a total capacity of over 1.6 million cubic meters and connects four major oil pipelines. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed strikes on oil facilities in the Samara and Volgograd regions as retaliation for Russian escalation.
