Kyiv bridges closed after fourth Russian drone strike on Pivdennyi Bridge

nv.ua (Ukrainian) —

Russia continued attacking Kyiv with jet-powered drones overnight into October 2, striking the Pivdennyi Bridge for the fourth time in 24 hours and hitting a 25-story residential building in the Darnytskyi district, killing one person and injuring two. The Pivdennyi Bridge is fully closed to traffic in both directions, while the Paton Bridge is also shut and the Metro Bridge has partial restrictions, with bus and trolleybus routes rerouted across the Darnytskyi Bridge. The strike on the high-rise caused a fire, and rescue crews initially struggled to reach the site due to parked cars blocking access. On October 1, Russian drones repeatedly attacked Kyiv, including strikes near the Pivdennyi Bridge support structure and a school in the Solomianskyi district, where over 100 students and 60 staff sheltered during the attack.
