Russian drone attack damages Kyiv high-rise and hits Southern Bridge again
A Russian drone attack on Kyiv early Friday, October 2, damaged a 25-story residential building in the Darnytskyi district, causing a fire on its upper floors. The Kyiv City Military Administration reported the incident, with casualty information still being clarified. Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko confirmed the strike on the high-rise's upper floors and reported a new hit on the Pivdennyi (Southern) Bridge at 5:03 AM. This marks the third attack on the bridge since October 1, though previous strikes caused no critical structural damage. The repeated bridge attacks follow Russia's recent deployment of new "Geran" drones with specialized warheads designed to destroy high-voltage supports and railway bridge structures. These drones are reportedly capable of targeting fortified infrastructure like bridges, energy facilities, and pipelines.
