Kyiv residents meme the Southern Bridge closure after Russian strikes

Kyiv residents are responding to a major transport collapse on Friday, October 2, with humor and memes, following the closure of the Pivdennyi (Southern) Bridge due to Russian attacks. The closure has caused massive traffic jams and disrupted travel between the city's two banks. The bridge, a key crossing over the Dnipro River, was struck three times on October 1 and 2, leading to its closure. Commuters faced severe delays, and taxi prices surged. Memes joke about residents switching to catamarans or walking across the frozen river in winter, with one comedian suggesting building airships. The situation highlights the broader impact of the attacks on critical infrastructure, which handles significant transit traffic between Ukraine's left and right banks. Despite the stress, Ukrainians are finding reasons to smile during difficult times.
