Ukrainian drones hit Volgograd refinery and chemical plant, sparking fires

unian.ua (Ukrainian) —

Ukrainian drones attacked Volgograd overnight, causing fires at the local oil refinery and the Kaustik chemical plant. One civilian was injured when a residential building caught fire. The Volgograd refinery, owned by Lukoil, is among Russia's largest with a capacity of about 15 million tons of oil annually. The Kaustik plant produces dual-use goods for Russia's military-industrial complex. Local residents reported explosions but no air raid warning was issued. Governor Andrei Bocharov confirmed a massive drone attack on industrial infrastructure but did not mention the refinery fire. The refinery was previously hit by Ukrainian drones in late July, damaging key production facilities.
