US sanctions official joined delegation's Moscow visit

A US Treasury official responsible for sanctions policy, Gene Lang, was part of the American delegation that visited Moscow. Axios reports Lang participated in preparatory contacts with the Russian side, including a meeting with Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund. Lang did not take part in the delegation's talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Axios links his presence to the possible discussion of Washington's sanctions policy during the visit. The delegation also included staff from the National Security Council and the State Department. Earlier reports indicated a plane carrying US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner landed at an airport in Rzeszow, Poland.
