Samsung Sees Surge in Apple Users Switching to Its Foldable Phones
Samsung reports that the rate of Apple iOS users switching to its latest Galaxy Z Fold8 has reached 1.6 times that of the previous generation, a strategy that appears successful as Apple enters the foldable phone market. The South Korean electronics giant, which pioneered the category with its first Galaxy Fold in 2019, cited global data through a spokesperson. In the US, 30% of Galaxy Z Flip8 buyers switched from rival brands, with most being first-time foldable phone purchasers. Samsung also recently updated its Smart Switch feature, allowing iPhone users to transfer data wirelessly via QR code without installing an app. Samsung is projected to lead the global foldable smartphone market with a 32% share this year, though competition is expected to intensify as Apple's new iPhone Duo, launched under CEO John Ternus, is predicted to capture 25% market share, with Huawei remaining strong in China, according to Counterpoint Research.
