A20 Pro vs A19 Pro: 2nm Chip Delivers Major Performance Leap

Apple unveiled the A20 Pro chip on Thursday, powering the new iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, and Duo, with performance gains including double the AI processing power and 40 percent faster graphics over its predecessor. The 2nm chip marks a significant leap in mobile computing. Built on TSMC's 2-nanometre process versus the A19 Pro's 3nm architecture, the A20 Pro features 50 percent more memory bandwidth, a 7-core GPU, and a Dual 16-core Neural Engine. New packaging inspired by M-series silicon improves thermal dissipation, promising up to 40 percent better sustained performance. The 2nm design boosts efficiency, enabling up to 36 hours of video playback on the iPhone 18 Pro and 45 hours on the Pro Max. A new C2 modem offers AI-powered cellular improvements with 15 percent less energy consumption than the previous C1X modem.
