Apple launches first foldable iPhone at record price

Apple has introduced its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, priced from 2,299 euros, making it the company's most expensive model to date. The device, roughly the size of a passport, features displays on both inner and outer surfaces. New Apple CEO John Ternus is betting on the format, claiming the fold is less visible than competitors' devices. The inner display measures 7.6 inches diagonally, while the outer screen is 5.4 inches, with compromises including a limited 2x optical zoom and fingerprint unlocking instead of FaceID. Foldable smartphones remain a niche, accounting for just over two percent of global sales, according to IDC. Despite the late entry, IDC predicts Apple will lead the segment within twelve months, capturing 31 percent of units and 44 percent of revenue by 2027, currently dominated by Huawei.
