Apple unveils iPhone Duo, its first foldable phone, seven years after Samsung

Apple unveiled its first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, at an event led by new CEO John Ternus, with the device priced at about $2,000 US and available starting October 23. The phone features a 13.7 cm screen when folded and a 19.3 cm display when unfolded, with a titanium frame and reduced visible crease. Apple expects to capture nearly a third of the foldable market this year, despite the niche segment being under 2% of global smartphone sales. Rivals Huawei and Xiaomi recently launched their own foldables at lower prices, while Apple also raised iPhone 18 Pro prices by $100 US. Ternus took over from Tim Cook on September 1 after 15 years.
