Samsung mocks Apple's foldable iPhone Duo as too heavy
Samsung is publicly criticizing Apple's upcoming iPhone Duo, its first foldable, for being reportedly too heavy, just hours before Apple's official unveiling. In a commercial titled "Welcome to Foldable" and an interview with Wired, Samsung highlights its Galaxy Z Fold8 as the world's lightest foldable at 201 grams and 4.5 millimeters thick, arguing weight is the most critical factor for customer value. Samsung claims the iPhone Duo will be significantly heavier despite similar display sizes. The Galaxy Z Fold8 is notably lighter than the 2019 original Fold, which weighed 276 grams, and even beats Apple's compact iPhone 17 Pro by 5 grams. Apple's launch event, where the iPhone Duo's actual weight will be revealed, begins at 10 a.m. PT.
