Samsung mocks Apple's foldable iPhone as 'reheating our leftovers'

Apple launched its $1,999 foldable iPhone Duo on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at its "Surprise and Shine" event, marking CEO John Ternus' first keynote since replacing Tim Cook on Sept. 1. Samsung immediately mocked the device, accusing Apple of "reheating our leftovers" in social media posts. The Duo features a passport-like hinge and opens to a 7.6-inch screen, 80% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro's display, with an invisible crease. Samsung, which released its Galaxy Z Fold8 earlier this year and debuted its first foldable seven years prior, also joked about the device's alarm clock mode and referenced its own Galaxy Trifold. Tech experts praised the Duo's bright displays and seamless hinge, though some social media users sided with Samsung, noting the company's years of foldable experience. The Duo, available Oct. 23, is Apple's most expensive iPhone to date.
