iPhone Duo's Opening Animation Recreated on Galaxy Z Fold 8, But It's Limited
Apple's newly announced iPhone Duo foldable's opening animation has been recreated on Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8, though the implementation is limited and not fully functional. The recreation, shared by user moomanjohnny on the GalaxyFold subreddit, uses hinge sensor data and a home screen screenshot to create a transition where the outer display fades and the inner display expands. However, this method only works for a single animation, not system-wide. Full integration is blocked because Android's required permissions are restricted to SystemUI, a privileged system component. Vendors haven't made these APIs available to third-party apps, citing security risks, so the effect remains a proof-of-concept rather than a practical feature.
