Apple launches $1,999 Duo foldable phone with 7.6-inch screen

Apple has unveiled the Duo, a US$1999 (NZ$3400) passport-shaped foldable phone, marking the biggest change to its flagship product in years. The device opens to a 7.6-inch screen and features Apple's A20 chip. The Duo, introduced by new chief executive John Ternus, is positioned as a business productivity tool supporting multiple app windows. It features a custom hinge, dual displays, and a titanium body, with updated Siri working with 300,000 apps at release. Apple also launched the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max starting at US$1199 and US$1299, plus new AirPods from US$129 with noise cancellation. Analysts expect Apple to secure a 40 percent share of the foldable market by next year.
