Apple launches iPhone Duo, its first foldable phone

Apple released its first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, on Wednesday, priced from 2,339 euros in Spain for the 256 GB version. The device marks Apple's entry into a market already established by Samsung, Huawei, and Oppo. The iPhone Duo features a passport-style design with a 5.4-inch outer screen and a 7.6-inch inner display, emphasizing a nearly invisible hinge crease. Apple waited for the foldable market to mature, targeting up to 22% of units sold and 34% of sector revenue this year, according to IDC estimates. Foldables represent only 2.2% of smartphone units sold this year, though IDC projects 30% growth in 2026 partly due to Apple's entry. The iPhone Duo goes on sale October 23, with rivals Huawei and Xiaomi launching competing devices to capitalize on the attention.
