Apple launches first foldable iPhone, the Duo, starting at £1,999

Apple launched its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, nearly two decades after the original, marking its most significant design shake-up in years. The device starts at £1,999, making it the most expensive folding smartphone yet. The Duo unfolds like a miniature book to reveal a 7.6-inch inner screen, supports side-by-side multitasking and the Apple Pencil, and runs on iOS 27 with Apple Intelligence AI features. It lacks Face ID, offering only fingerprint unlocking via Touch ID, and is available from October in white or dark blue. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max were also unveiled, featuring a variable aperture camera, up to 40 per cent faster A20 Pro chip, and battery life up to 45 hours for the Pro Max. The standard iPhone 18 is expected early next year.
