iPhone 18 Pro's variable aperture camera redefines smartphone photography
Apple announced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on September 9, featuring a first-ever variable aperture camera for iPhone. Pre-orders begin September 12, with release on September 18. The main 48-megapixel camera offers four aperture settings (F1.48, F1.8, F2.8, F4) for manual control over background blur, shutter speed, and white balance. The A20 Pro chip uses a 2nm process with a vapor chamber three times larger, boosting sustained performance by up to 40%. Japanese pricing starts at 219,800 yen for the 256GB Pro and 239,800 yen for the Pro Max. The Pro Max offers up to 45 hours of video playback, and the Dynamic Island is smaller. New features include Apple Reference Image for photo authenticity and iOS 27 with a revamped Siri beta.
