Apple announced the iPhone Duo, its first foldable smartphone, on September 9th. The device starts at $1,999 (¥364,800 in Japan) and will be released on October 23rd. The iPhone Duo features a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner display, a titanium frame, and IP68 dust and water resistance. It lacks Face ID, instead using Touch ID, and will support the Apple Pencil later this year. It has a 48-megapixel main camera and a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera, but no telephoto lens. Apple is entering a shrinking foldable market, but analysts predict its entry could boost the category. The company also announced the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, with the base iPhone 18 delayed to spring 2027.
