Apple launches $1,999 foldable Duo phone with 7.6-inch screen

Apple has unveiled a $1,999 foldable phone called Duo, marking the biggest change to its flagship product since 2017. The passport-shaped device opens into a 7.6-inch screen and is Apple's thinnest phone when unfolded. The launch is the first with new CEO John Ternus, who positioned the Duo as a business productivity tool supporting multiple app windows. Ternus criticized existing foldables as awkward, highlighting the Duo's custom hinge, dual displays, and titanium body. The iPhone generated $209.6bn in Apple's most recent fiscal year. Apple also introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, starting at $1,199 and $1,299, with preorders from September 12. The Duo ships October 23. Rivals like Samsung and Google already offer foldables, but analysts note the category remains a small market share.
