Apple unveils foldable iPhone Duo at $2,000 as new CEO Ternus debuts in Cupertino

Apple has introduced the iPhone Duo, its first foldable smartphone, at an event in Cupertino, marking the debut of new CEO John Ternus, who replaced Tim Cook on September 1st. The device, which opens like a book to tablet size, will cost 2,369 euros and ship from October 23rd. The iPhone Duo enters a market where Samsung, Huawei, and Motorola already offer foldables, though Apple has worked on the concept since a 2011 patent. The phone will launch in Europe without Siri AI due to Digital Markets Act compliance issues, while the company aims to solve durability problems like visible creases that plagued earlier competitors. The launch comes as global smartphone sales are projected to drop 16.7% in 2026, though revenue is expected to rise 6.3% to $613 billion. Apple also introduced pricier traditional models, the 18 Pro at 1,489 euros and 18 Pro Max at 1,639 euros, both 150 euros more than last year's versions.
