Apple Watch can authenticate iPhone Duo users who prefer not to use Touch ID

Apple has replaced Face ID with Touch ID on its upcoming foldable iPhone Duo, as facial recognition proved incompatible with the device's open and closed configurations. Users who dislike Touch ID can instead authenticate automatically via an unlocked Apple Watch. The iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable device, works in both open and closed positions, making Face ID impractical. Touch ID functions regardless of orientation, but some users prefer Face ID's effortless look-to-unlock convenience. Apple Watch authentication will presumably rely on proximity and security safeguards to prevent unauthorized access. Apple has not fully detailed the Apple Watch integration, though it may mirror the Mac's double-press notification system.
