iPhone 18 Pro Max vs. iPhone 17 Pro Max: Key upgrades explained
Apple announced the iPhone 18 Pro Max on Wednesday, featuring a redesigned A20 Pro chip, a physical variable aperture camera, and a $1,299 starting price, a $100 increase over last year's model. Pre-orders begin Sept. 12 ahead of a Sept. 18 launch. The new phone offers four colors including burgundy and glacier blue, a smaller Dynamic Island with a 3-in-1 display, and a battery lasting 45 hours of video playback, six hours more than the iPhone 17 Pro Max. It also adds smart focus tracking and Apple Reference Image authentication. The iPhone 18 Pro Max retains the same 6.9-inch display and body size as its predecessor but is slightly heavier at 8.78 ounces. The A20 Pro chip is designed to better support Apple Intelligence features like the reimagined Siri AI.
