Apple launches Duo, its first foldable iPhone, after seven years of development

Apple announced its first foldable iPhone, the Duo, more than seven years after the first Samsung Galaxy Fold. Preorders begin October 16th, with sales on October 23rd, starting at $1,999 for 256GB of storage. The Duo features a 5.4-inch outer display that opens to a 7.6-inch inner panel, the largest on any iPhone. It uses a custom nano-texture display to minimize the crease, a titanium frame with ceramic fiber, and an IP68 rating. It is powered by the A20 Pro chip and includes a dual 48-megapixel rear camera. The phone is eSIM-only and launches in star white and night sky colors. It lacks Face ID, using Touch ID instead, and includes foldable-specific features like dual-side FaceTime and Smart Take photos. Apple CEO John Ternus called it the most transformational change since the original iPhone.
